It must be a good gig playing selecta for the Free-Sprit Records’ progressive psy Reawakening series of compilations Getting to hobnob with the label’s prime producers, root around in their studios and latest releases, surely playing one off another in getting access to their tunes, and then lay them out in a format that is of your own choosing. Bit of a buzz I’m sure, though I am not sure what DJ Face has been doing of late to score this role but it is his for Reawakening Vol. V. It may have something to do with Face’s dedication to the cause for if you know his bio you’ll know he’s been fighting the good fight for many a decade now, from the trenches of the front line too, as a producer in his own right, festival promoter, radio show host, an international man in demand so that all the accolades that come his way are well deserved. Enough of him though, Reawakening is all about the music and the list of contributors and their contributions will pop your socks. Omsphere is in there with a couple of co-productions, one with Cimi and the other with Tron. Hypnocoustics, continuing their solid run of form, are as well so too regular Free Spirit types Solar Spectrum and Liftshift. You’ll also find a Monastic Squid remix of Rinkadink’s Blank, Hypnoise and the Ying Yang Monks team up so to K.I.M & Manipulation to but name a few. Talent from across the planet, the eleven tracks providing a scorcher of a selection of progressive psy trance from a multitude of producers and perspectives. Get in DJ Face! Get in Free-Spirit!
